Dear New Jersey State Society of Auctioneers Members,
The holiday party, member swearing in, and charity auction event on December 5th was a blast and a great success. It was my pleasure as the newly elected secretary treasurer to have the 2017
membership certificates and wallet cards available and distribute to all those in attendance who paid their 2017 dues.
We would like to thank Darrell Dirr, Randy Edwards and Sharon McKenzie for making the trek for their official swearing in conducted by Rob Babington, our President, to become our first new members of the 2017 New Year.
I hope that everyone enjoyed the NJSSA holiday cards and we wish all a happy healthy New Year.
Please note that I have received numerous renewals and new membership applications. I will be hitting that mail very soon, sending out confirmations, and decisions on new memberships will be forthcoming after the executive board meeting scheduled for January 30th.
During the party, it was the NJSSA's pleasure to recognized Maximillian Spann Sr. the lifetime achievement award. His acceptance speech was very enlightening and inspirational.
We also conducted a charity auction for St. Jude's Childrens Hospital which garnered $2,815. An additional $930 was collected from our generous members, friends and family to total a fantastic $3,745 for St. Judes.
The single highest selling item was a pair of filled collector quarter books sold by Mike Myatovich and bought by the Earle Steeves Family. Robert & Lisa Babington garnered the most proceeds by donating several items sought after. The highest single monetary donation was received from Christine Palfrey. The rarest item sold was an 'antique Saint Nicholas Ribbon framed artwork donated by John & Martina Oleinik. Although there was great effort made to pull off the event by several key members, it is with the greatest appreciation that I take this moment to recognize everyone for participating and donating:
Lisa E. Babington,
