The NJSSA today accomplished a tremendous feat in the challenging of S. 1562/A. 3306 before the Assembly Housing and Local Government Committee. Thanks to the tremendous grassroots efforts of NJSSA members calling members of the committee and support from other interest parties, the Assembly Housing and Local Government Committee chose to "table" this legislation. We will continue to monitor this legislation until it is confirmed "dead" in committee. If enacted, S. 1562/A. 3306 would have had a damaging impact on the auction profession through the capping of commissions to five-percent in the sale of government real estate and would ban the use of a "buyer's premium". Again, thank you to those members who came forward and offered their support and assistance in lobbying against this bill. We will continue to keep you posted on any future developments with the legislation.
